Celtic dent Boys’ bid

Batley Boys 0

Dewsbury Celtic 30

DEWSBURY Celtic dented Batley Boys’ hopes of winning the Yorkshire League Division Two title with a convincing victory at Halifax Road last Saturday.

Celtic had a number of players warming up for the Summer Conference season and they helped cause plenty of damage as the Boys lost their first league game in the last eight matches.

One of them, pack man Liam Walmsley, was the key figure in the game and his powerful running wrecked the home side’s defence and brought him four tries.

Other tries came from Ryan Ginnelly and Tom Kilroy, while Nicky Crabtree added three goals.

The win took Dewsbury Celtic back into second place, a point ahead of the Boys, who have three games in hand.

Perhaps more important was the fact that Batley are now five points behind leaders York Acorn A but now with only two games in hand.
