Champions East Bierley sign off with stylish victory

East Bierley rounded off their Bradford League Second Teams Division Two championship winning campaign with an emphatic nine-wicket win at Hartshead Moor last Saturday.

East Bierley have finished 32 points ahead of second placed Saltaire in the league standings .

Stuart Kirk hit an unbeaten 71 which saw him take his aggregate to 877 as he finished top of the second teams Division Two averages with 73.08.

Kirk helped East Bierley chase down Hartshead Moor’s total of 115-8 with 9.4 of their 25 overs remaining.

Reece Clarke was the pick of East Bierley’s bowlers with 3-11.

The match was one of three to be played as reduced-overs contests. The remaining three, Baildon v Saltaire, Windhill v Spen Victoria and Bowling Old Lane v Cleckheaton were all abandoned with no play possible.

Gomersal’s Phil Carter made the final day’s only century as he helped his side to a 77-run win over Brighouse in a match reduced to 25 overs a side at Oxford Road.

Carter’s excellent knock of 108, which came in difficult batting conditions, helped Gomersal make an impressive 221-3.

Max Senior (47) shared a 107-run stand for the third-wicket with Carter before Brighouse were restricted to 144-9

Bottom-team Idle finished their season on a winning note as they defeated Bankfoot by 39 runs in a 32 overs contest.

Greg Wilkinson’s 54 helped Idle to 158-8 a before Gagandeep Pooni (4-39) and Haroon Khan (4-32) helped dismiss Bankfoot for 119.
