Champions left stunned

CHAMPIONS Thornhill surrendered top spot in the Wakefield League Premier Division when they suffered a shock 6-1 defeat at Dodworth Miners Welfare.

Although Jason Milner was on target for the visitors, they were unable to prevent Dodworth taking over at the top as they recorded an impressive win thanks to goals from Carl Sidebottom (two), Matthew Shaw, Mark Herring, Ryan Keene and Ricky Marsden.

It was Thornhill’s first defeat of the season and they are a point behind Dodworth with a game in hand.
