Crackenedge inflicted a first defeat of the season on Crofton Sports as they moved above their title rivals to take over at the top of the Wakefield League Premier Division.
Crackenedge earned a thrilling 4-3 win over their closest rivals at St John Fisher School last Saturday and are top on goal difference with both sides level on 18 points after seven matches.
Crackenedge led 3-2 at half-time and went on to secure their sixth win of the season thanks to an Adam Williams brace plus goals from James Blane and Tim Clarke.
Overthorpe Sports threw away a 2-0 half-time lead as they went down 4-2 at home to Beechwood Santos.
Macauley Milburn led the Beechwood fight back with a hat-trick, while Stephen Cooper scored the other goal to seal victory.
Howden Clough moved up to second place in Division Two, level on 22 points with leaders Pontefract Town, after recording a 3-2 win over Great Preston.
Jack Anderson, Reece Scholes and Shane Thornton were the goal scorers is Clough’s seventh win of the season.
That win allowed Clough to move level with Pontefract, who were in League Cup action and cruised into the next round with a 10-1 win over Overthorpe Sports Reserves.
Tom Hirst scored Overthorpe’s consolation goal but they were hampered by the sending off of Daniel Marshall for two yellow cards.
