Heeley goal sends Hopton into League Cup semi-final

Lower Hopton booked their place in the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division Cup semi-final with a hard-fought win over Lepton Highlanders.

Lepton may lie bottom of the table with just a single point from 11 matches but they made high flying Hopton fight all the way.

James Heeley bagged the only goal of the match and it was enough to send Hopton into the semi-final, where they will face the winners of this week’s clash between Ryburn United and Ovenden West Riding.

Littletown travel to Toller in their League Cup quarter-final on Saturday, with the tie to be played on the 3G pitch at Thornton Recreation Centre.

Hopton travel to Golcar United for a top of the table clash this Saturday.

Golcar opened up a six point lead over Hopton last Saturday after they picked up a ninth win from 11 games as they defeated Toller 5-2.

Littletown are back in third place, two points behind Hopton and eight adrift of Golcar with two games in hand.
