Hunsworth edged out in nine-goal cup thriller

Hunsworth were involved in a nine-goal thriller as they were edged out 5-4 by Athletico in the Bradford District FA Senior Cup quarter-finals last Saturday.

Mohammed Qasim gave Athletico a good start when he opened the scoring but Hunsworth were playing well and responded to grab two goals and lead at half-time.

Adil Tanvir restored parity after the break with Saad Abbas then giving Athletico a 3-2 advantage.

The thirlling end-to-end encounter continued as Hunsworth again responded with an equaliser and then went 4-3 ahead after Athletico had a player sent off.

Hunsworth were also reduced to 10 men when they had a player shown a red card and Athletico hit back as Shummel Uddin equalised with the eighth goal of the match before Mohsin Arfan struck what proved to be the winner as his side advanced to the semi-finals.

Hunsworth lie 10th in West Yorkshire Division Two with 11 points from 12 games and they return to league action on Saturday with a trip to fourth placed Glasshoughton Rock, followed by a home game with ninth placed Old Centralians on December 9.

Athletico are joined in the Bradford Senior Cup semi-finals by West Yorkshire Premier Division side Field, who edged out TVR United 2-1.

Joshua Milner and Kieran Suddards were the goal scorers as Field edged into the last four.
