Gale and Pyrah shine as Yorkshire defeat Derbyshire

YORKSHIRE Carnegie gained a second successive victory in the Friends Life Twenty20 on Monday, defeating Derbyshire Falcons by 41 runs on Monday.

Captain Andrew Gale gave Yorkshire a decent start as he hit seven fours on his way to 39 from just 26 balls.

Joe Root made 36, while the Yorkshire innings was boosted by Gary Ballance’s late 47 not out, which included three fours and three sixes as Carnegie reached 150-5 from their 20 overs.

Ossett’s Richard Pyrah claimed 3-21 from four overs in reply, including 11 dot balls, before Moin Ashraf sealed Yorkshire’s win 4-18 from four overs as the hosts were dismissed for 109.

Yorkshire travel to Durham Dynamoes on Friday and then face Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Scarborough on Sunday.
