Hargreaves hat-trick sees Overthorpe march into cup semi-finals

OVERTHORPE SC marched into the West Riding County Amateur League Division One Cup semi-finals last Saturday.

Scott Hargreaves bagged a hat-trick as Overthorpe SC sealed a 4-1 home victory over Bay Athletic Reserves.

James Wilson was also on target for the hosts who led 2-0 at the break.

Tingley Athletic also reached the semi-finals as second-half strieks by Gavin Huxall, Chris Dennison and Steve Mitchell saw them win 3-0 at home to Storthes Hall Reserves.

n Littletown Reserves now lead West Riding County Amateur League Division Three by 11 points after a thrilling 6-5 success at Hunsworth Reserves.

The sides were tied 2-2 at the break before Littletown Reserves edged clear to stretch their advantage over second placed Tingley Athletic Reserves.

Jordan Maltas and Ben McCardle both scored twice for the visitors, who also had strikes from Richard Burke and Kyle Laycock.

Steve Oakes fired a hat-trick for Hunsworth Reserves while Liam Shields completed their tally with a brace. Hunsworth Reserves are third-bottom, three points ahead of Lower Hopton Reserves (Eric Mahoudou) who lost 2-1 at Bronte Wanderers Reserves.

n Hartshead rose to 10th place in West Yorkshire League Division Two after a home win over third-bottom Ossett Common Rovers.

The 2-0 success saw Hartshead move one point and one place clear of Howden Clough, who lost 6-0 at second-placed Hunslet Club.

Division One Wyke Wanderers turned in a fine effort at home to Premier side Boroughbridge before being edged out 4-3 in the League Cup.

In Alliance Division Two, second-bottom Hartshead Reserves had a 2-1 victory at FC Riasa Reserves. Howden Clough Reserves lost 7-0 at home to Kippax Reserves.
