Heavy Woollen Cup winning squad of 1990 are all set for the big reunion
The Heavy Woollen Cup winning side of 1990 will stage a get together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their triumph.
Mirfield defeated Shepley by 80 runs in the 1990 final at Ossett and went on to complete the double by clinching the Central Yorkshire League Division One title.
Andy Kaye has managed to track down all 11 players from the cup final and they will play in a game, while raising money for two charities on Sunday August 30.
Andy, who now lives in Barnsley, said: “Somebody tweeted a picture of the 1990 cup winners and I started thinking how we could commemorate the silver anniversary.
“The majority of the cup final winning side will take on a Mirfield Select team made up of current players and members of the 2003 Heavy Woollen Cup winning side.
“I’ve managed to track down all 11 players who were part of the double winning team and it will be great to catch up, reminisce and have a few beers together.”
Players will pay a match fee, while there will be a raffle and other fundraising events, with money raised going to Parkinson’s Disease and Speakability charities.
The Mirfield class of 1990 were captained by Derek Johnson, with the other members Martin Gledhill, Andy Bolt, Russel Heritage, Iqbal Khan, Lee Morritt, Richard Gledhill, Simon Gelder, John Westerby, Pat Neal and Andy Kaye.
