Huddersfield Town make point at Stevenage

GENEROUS Huddersfield Town fans will see a 2-2 draw away at play-off contenders Stevenage as a point gained while to the more demanding of the Galpharm faithful it is two points lost.

Town were in the driving seat at 2-0 up at the start of the second half. Danny Ward latched onto Lee Novak’s pinpoint cross and beat Stevenage’s substitute goalkeeper Alan Julian.

A mere five minutes later the lead was doubled when Lee Novak struck a terrific shot into the back of the net giving the goalkeeper no chance of making a save.

Town should have closed the game out at 2-0 up but Stevenage exploited some poor defending to pull a goal back through a Michael Bostwick header.

A clumsy challenge by Sean Morrison resulted in a Stevenage penalty. Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies made a terrific one-handed save to stop Scott Laird’s spot kick.

The drama wasn’t over as two minutes from time Robin Shroot met a cross and placed it beyond Smithies for the equaliser.

Town remain fourth a point behind Sheffield Wednesday who are third and three behind Sheffield United who are second and play their game in hand tonight at home to Scunthorpe.
