Liversedge condemned to two defeats

Liversedge are anxiously looking over their shoulders at the Northern Counties East League Premier Division relegation zone following two defeats in four days.

Sedge lost 3-1 at Bridlington Town last Saturday and were then beaten 2-0 at home to Staveley on Tuesday night.

They are now just eight points clear of the bottom two with 14 matches remaining.

The Bridlington game was settled by half-time as the home side led 3-0 with goals from Tom Fleming, Jarrod Smalley and Danny Brunton.

Marco Lopez pulled a 90th minute consolation goal back for Sedge but it was too late.

Ellis Wall gave Staveley the lead on the stroke of half-time on Tuesday, with Kurtis Morley’s 69th minute goal securing the visitors three points.

n Liversedge Under-19s are six points clear of AFC Emley at the top of the Northern Youth Alliance League East Division following a 6-0 win over Ossett Town on Monday.

Robert Thomas gave Sedge a 1-0 half-time lead before Vaughan Radford grabbed a hat-trick, Thomas hit second and Bradley Patefield completed the rout.
