New Liversedge chairman Leigh Bromby was in the Town dug out in his capacity as academy coach, alongside manager Tony Carss.

A decent crowd was also in attendance, many of who had turned up to witness first hand the crop of emerging talent Huddersfield have to offer.

Liversedge held the Terriers for the opening 15 minutes, with goalkeeper Liam Scott-Bell pulling off a strong of impressive saves.

Town’s development side broke the deadlock after 25 minutes from a well-worked corner.

Having initially taken a short kick, the ball was swung into the Liversedge penalty area and defender Fraser Horsfall, a first year pro at Town, rose to head home.

The visitors took control in the build up to half-time as midfielder Lewis O’Brien surged into the area and won a penalty, which was confidently slotted home by Ronan Coughlan.

Just a minute later, Town wrapped up the game with a superb goal from Scottish striker Liam Coogans, who brought the ball down, flicked it over a defender’s head and brilliantly slotted home.

Sedge again impressed after the break and deservedly pulled a goal back late in the game through Tom Brook on what proved a hugely enjoyable evening for all who attented.

Scott-Bell (@liamscottbell) took to Twitter to praise Town’s display, saying: “Absolutely blown away about how good Huddersfield academy are, 1-3 a decent result and put a good performance in myself”.

There was also praise for Liversedge, with Town season ticket holder@marko2807 saying “Had a really enjoyable night at @Liversedge_FC, rained like mad but cheap beer & food, different world to what we’re used to! #htafc.”

@mark_bedford added: “Brilliant evening up at @Liversedge_FC tonight and great to see a good crowd showing their support!”

Liversedge slipped to their first Northern Counties East League Premier Division defeat of the season, going down 3-1 at Athersley last Saturday.

Brook Newton had two early efforts saved and Brandon Kane also went close before Andy Wood was sent through on goal to put Sedge 1-0 up at half-time.

It remained 1-0 until the 82nd minute when Daniel Joynes equalised, before Josh Moore and Joynes struck in the final five minutes to seal an unlikely win for Athersley.
