The Clayborners suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to league leaders Tadcaster Albion last Saturday but it got even worse on Tuesday when they were beaten 5-1 by Staveley Miners Welfare.

The sending off of leading goalscorer Andy Wood after just 12 minutes proved crucial to last Saturday’s game against Tadcaster.

Former Sedge manager Billy Miller returned to the club for the first time since his departure in 2012 and he will have been delighted to see his Tadcaster side return to winning ways.

Jimmy Beadle put the Brewers ahead after 25 minutes and Daniel Clayton doubled their advantage in the lead up to half-time.

As 10-man Sedge tired, George Conway and Adam Baker added to the visitors’ tally after the break.

Staveley led 1-0 at half-time of Tuesday’s clash but added three goals in a dramatic six minute spell after the break.

Staveley led 5-0 before Wood bagged a consolation goal near the end.
