Lower Hopton climb table with victory

Lower Hopton moved up to ninth place in the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division thanks to a 3-2 victory over Ovenden last Saturday.

Someon Fletcher and Liam Royal struck first half goals for Hopton but the sides went into the break level after Ovenden replied through Scott Eastwood and George Bamforth.

Hopton went on to secure a fourth win of the campaign thanks to an Elliott Williams goal.

Littletown were denied victory as Campion struck a late equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw.

Joe Jagger continued his impressive scoring run and Ryan Wright also netted as Littletown led 2-1 before Campion substitute Steve Bargh struck a late equaliser.

Hunsworth slipped to a 10th straight defeat, going down 4-1 at home to Steeton, with Ashley Thompson scoring their consolation goal.

Danny Williams grabbed a first half goal as Overthorpe and Campion Reserves were level 1-1 at half-time of their Division One clash.

Campion took control after the break and two further goals sealed a 3-1 win.

Dale Hanson bagged a hat-trick for Lower Hopton Reserves but it wasn’t enough to prevent an 8-3 defeat at Golcar United Reserves in Division Two, while Littletown Reserves went down 3-2 at Bradford.

FC Gawthorpe are level with Fieldhead Hospital at the top of the Wakefield League Premier Division.

Old Bank had Lee Davey and Luke Fozard on the scoresheet but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat at Nostell MW in Division One, where Marsh suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Ossett Dynamoes.

Paul Beaumont bagged a hat-trick and Connor Secker also scored as Fox and Hounds defeated Stanley United 4-3 in Division Two.

Overthorpe moved up to third place in Division Three thanks to an impressive 3-1 win away to Fleece.

Jordan Angus, Mark Hodgson and Sean Hodgson were the Overthorpe scorers as they collected a third win in four league outings.
