Marsh make cup progress

There was little between the two first division sides in a goalless first half but with Marsh duo David Webster and Scott Newby in outstanding form, the home side took control.

Webster and Newby both scored, while an own goal secured their passage into the next round.

Premier Division Mount Athletic scored two goals in each half to overcome first division ALC 4-0, with Mohammed Bham, Mohammed Adam and Raeez Lorgat (two) on target.

Ravensthorpe Rangers also reached the second round after defeating fellow Premier side Thornhill United 2-1.

Zahid and Fessy netted for Ravensthorpe, who led 1-0 at half-time, while Tristan Kennedy replied for Thornhill.

Rob Ives bagged a brace, while Johnny Beverley, Dan Stevens, Robert McCann, Jamie Shaw and Joe Hallas also struck, with Paul Pearson replying with Ravenswharfe’s consolation.

Norfolk produced a terrific display to push Premier high fliers Bradfdord all the way.

Savile United bowed out, losing 7-1 at BD3 United, despite Shuib Mohammed’s consolation goal.

Promotion chasing Howden Clough and Oakwell fought out an entertaining 3-3 draw in Division One.

Oakwell fought back from 2-1 down to lead 3-2 deep into injury time thanks to goals from Luke Newsome (two) and Richard Markham-Smith.

Clough responded and Phil Clarke completed his hat-trick with a 94th minute goal to rescue a point.

Clough and Oakwell are level on 23 points, two behind first division leaders Vision, who have a game in hand.

Bradford All Stars defeated second-bottom Inter Batley 5-1 as Muddassar Idrees and Darren Bolton were in form bagging a brace apiece, with the other coming from Misbah Thoudhuay.
