The Stags’ fourth win in a row leaves them five points clear at the top with just four games of the regular season left to play.

Mirfield fell behind to an early try as Marlins stand-off Gareth Fairound finished off a break down the right to give the home side a second-minute lead.

Mirfield replied as Jake Shaw and Conner Sockett linked to set up a Ross Hayden score.

Ben Mather crashed over after a Nathan Hadfield pass before Hayden crossed for his 20th try of the season after linking with Reece Spurr.

Mather powered over for his second try and extended the lead to 24-6 before Milford substitute Ryan Dindon went over to reduce the deficit to 12 points.

Another superb offload from Spurr set up Sockett to race over and give Mirfield a 30-12 half-time lead.
