Cleckheaton teenager Megan Clarke has secured a golf scholarship in the USA.

Megan Clarke has secured the scholarship with Western Kentucky University as she combines studying with embarking on a full time sports career.

The 17-year-old member of Cleckheaton Golf Club, where she has a one handicap, has played in Yorkshire Ladies first team and was also a member of the England Under-16s squad. She topped the list in the Yorkshire Girls Championships in 2015 and 2016 and won a WPGA one series event at Forest Pines.

Megan has secured the scholarship after working closely with United Sports USA, a sports scholarship consultancy based in Glasgow.

They support youngsters, and their families, who want to secure sporting and academic scholarships in the United States’ college system, primarily in football, golf, swimming and athletics.

A spokesperson for United Sports USA said: “We believe Megan is a terrific young talent who will only go from strength to strength and benefit from being part of a strong college golf programme.”
