New Inn sink leaders as race for the title hots up

James Keen scored for the hosts but second-placed New Inn, who have three games in hand, took the points thanks to Simon Moore, John Stott, Andy Richardson and Neil Padgett.

Hightown Liberal Club (James Crines) missed the chance to go second after drawing 1-1 at Gomersal (Alan Doig), while fourth-placed AFC Chickenley finally saw their 100 per cent record end as they drew 1-1 at Punch Bowl.

John Milner’s strike ensured the home side shared the spoils after Tim Clarke’s 19th goal of the season for Chickenley, who trail the leaders by five points but have seven games in hand.

Railway East Ardsley won 4-0 at home to Millbridge WMC to move up to third-bottom, above Ravensthorpe Hotel who lost 5-2 at bottom-club Heckmondwike Sports Club.

James Dean (two), Steve Wilson, Adam Cooper and Mark Claughton scored for Heckmondwike who are now just two points adrift of Ravensthorpe, who replied through Imran Khan and Paul Shackleton.

Joe Green led the way with four goals as BattyefordReserves cruised to an 8-3 success over Dewsbury Rangers.

Bobby Evans, Andy Gott, Jason Evans and Andy Parkin also struck for the hosts. Rangers’ consolations came from Jason Milner, Danny Laidlaw and Bill Phethean.

Goals from Damien Slingsby (two), Luke Kennedy, Mick O’Hara and Ben Burkill saw Scholes Athletic to a 5-1 home success over Marsh (Wayne Hayes).
