Batley Bulldogs trio head to Hunslet on loan
BATLEY Bulldogs trio Anthony Bowman, Wayne Reittie and George Senior have joined League 1 side Hunslet on loan.
The Bulldogs players will be available for injury-hit Hunslet when they travel to North Wales Crusaders on Saturday.
The south Leeds outfit are coached by former Batley player and coach Gary Thornton who said: “Big thanks to Batley for helping facilitate this. It’s a great opportunity to add three Championship quality players to our depleted squad.”
He continued: “With long term injuries to Will Cooke and Jimmy Watson, and with Niall Walker still recovering from a hamstring injury, we’ve been looking to bring in some outside backs and George (centre) and Wayne (wing) will be fantastic additions.
"Rets has loads of experience and is a proven performer at Championship level and George is very highly regarded at Batley, so I’m sure they will do a great job for us.
“Also, with Duane Straugheir and Lewis Wray still on the mend from niggling injuries, Anthony will be a valuable addition to our pack. Again he has vast experience in the Championship and was a standout for Batley last season.”
Meanwhile, Bulldogs half-back Aiden Ineson will return to Dewsbury Moor with his game time limited in the opening weeks of the season.
Batley are on a four-game winning run and have not got many injuries to contend with, leaving Ineson free to return to his local side.
Head coach Craig Lingard said: “Aiden has great ability and a fantastic attitude. It’s vital to keep playing and to enjoy playing. He remains part of our plans going forward, we wish him well and will be watching his progress.”
