Featherstone Rovers head coach James Webster impressed by Batley Bulldogs' recruitment
JAMES WEBSTER has been impressed by the recruitment from Saturday’s opponents Batley Bulldogs as he prepares his Featherstone Rovers side for this weekend’s Challenge Cup clash.
The Bulldogs booked their place in the second round with a fine win over Halifax at the Shay Stadium on Saturday night.
Head coach Craig Lingard has made some shrewd signings during the extended off-season, with the likes of Tom Gilmore and Jodie Broughton - both former Super League players - penning deals at Mount Pleasant.
Featherstone beat Bradford in the first round and Webster is anticipating a tough afternoon when Batley visit Post Office Road on Saturday afternoon.
“It is a great result for Batley to go and get that win at Halifax,” said Webster.
“We know each other pretty well from playing each other in the friendly. We play Batley in the league the week after so we will be on first name basis with everyone down there pretty soon.
“Full credit to Batley, they have recruited really well.
“They have got a good half-back in Tom Gilmore, two young centres from Hull FC and Jodie Broughton on the wing. They have got a lot of grunt and determination in the middle. Batley are going to be a really tough test for us.”
Dale Ferguson is likely to miss the game with a hamstring injury.
