The Bulldogs have started the season with an impressive Challenge Cup win over Halifax Panthers and back-to-back defeats against Featherstone Rovers in league and cup.

Lingard’s players have produced encouraging performances in all three games and the Batley chief wants his players to maintain those standards on Saturday afternoon

“I think they have brought some good reinforcements in, in the middle of the park,” assessed Lingard of Matt Diskin’s side, who secured victory over Swinton Lions in their Championship opener.

“There are some tough and rugged middles in there and they will be difficult to play against and difficult to break down.

“The stuff we have done against Featherstone and Halifax, we need to do equally as well, if not better, against Oldham

“We know that if we drop our performance, the quality they have got is going to be enough to beat us.

“It is about maintaining the standards we have set against the top teams.

“It is a must-win game for us, we need to be beating the teams at home who will be fighting in the same position we are.”

The fixture will be played behind closed doors and kick off at 12.45pm.
