Ratcliffe hands out Trojans prizes

A scheduled friendly between Thornhill and Yorkshire Cup finalists Drighlington was called off but the Trojans still brought the curtain down on their winter rugby era.

Thornhill have been accepted to the National Conference, which begins in March, and despite having made an impressive start to their Pennine League Premier Division campaign, they have now left.

The Pennine League top flight has been left in disarray as unbeaten Premier leaders Drighlington also departed having also been accepted to the Conference, while other teams are refusing to play games.

The pick of Thornhill’s performances in the Pennine League was a superb 16-10 triumph at champions Sharlston Rovers, which earned the champagne moment at last Saturday’s presentation.

Rob Kelly was presented with an engraved trophy after receiving the outstanding contribution award.

Joel Gibson’s try against Fryston on November 1 earned best try and Sam Ratcliffe’s tackle in the same game earned the top tackle award.

Joss Ratcliffe was presented with a comedy medal for the ‘biggest gaffe’ in the win over Sharlston.
