Batley Bulldogs Girls will stage a sponsored walk before tomorrow’s Heavy Woollen Championship derby against Dewsbury Rams at Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.
The girls will walk from Dewsbury’s Tetley’s Stadium to Mount Pleasant with all funds raised going towards their tour of Australia later this year. They will also have buckets available for donations on the night.
The Bulldogs team earned a fourth straight win, running out 56-0 victors at Sunderland Girls.
Batley produced their best performance of the season with Madison Laverick running in four tries and Lea Dixon grabbing a hat-trick.
Georgia Roach scored twice and there was a try apiece for Casey Rhodes, Millie Taylor, Evie Kilburn, Ellie Oldroyd and Lily Clark.
Ellie McNamara was denied by an ankle tap tackle, while Georgia Copley played a big part in the win, setting up a number of the tries.
Georgia Halliley had her best game of the season with Kiara Dilnot making good progress in only her second game.
Top tackler was Rhodes, with parents and players player of the match awarded to Dixon and coaches player of the match going to Clark.
The girls have no game over the Easter holiday, their next game is in two weeks away at Dewsbury Moor.
n The Batley Independent Supporters Squadbuilder Association (BISSA) request that any outstanding Grand National draw tickets are returned at tomorrow’s game.
The draw takes place in the Tap Room pub in Batley next Thursday (April 9) at 8pm.
