Batley Bulldogs have turned to 3G pitches in a bid to combat the dreadful weather which has left many grounds saturated.

Bulldogs have moved some of their training sessions to the 3G pitches at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre in a bid to preserve their Fox’s Biscuits Stadium surface.

Coach John Kear said: “We have been having problems getting quality on field work.

“We can’t go on the main field at Batley and, as you saw on Boxing Day against Dewsbury, games are played at a very slow pace in heavy conditions but everybody is in the same position.”

Batley are hoping their pre-season clash against the Heavy Woollen Select on January 17 will go ahead.
