Batley Bulldogs have revealed a sponsorship deal that will see the Challenge Family Stand at Fox’s Biscuits Stadium renamed.
The Bede Financial Group Stand was opened before Sunday’s game with Workington by Bulldogs coach John Kear.
Bede Financial Group are based in Marske by the Sea but have supported the Bulldogs for a number of years, through their Birstall born director John McVeigh.
John and his family have been lifelong supporters of the Batley team and are delighted the Bede Group have taken up sponsorship of the family stand.
John’s father, Jim McVeigh, is a life member of the Bulldogs and helps police the club car park on matchdays, along with brother Andrew.
John McVeigh junior co-ordinates the pre match hospitality in the Brian Cooney suite, and brother James McVeigh’s Dewsbury-based company Ray Moult Poultry have their logo on the 2015 Bulldogs playing shirt.
John said: “Although I do not get down to watch the Bulldogs as often as I would like to, it is a great privilege that I can play my part in helping the Bulldogs’ quest for success this season.
“I can remember when there was no stand at the top end of the ground, just open terracing, and at half-time queueing up at the tin refreshment hut in the freezing cold for a cup of soup and a pie, served up by Bulldogs stalwart Nellie Earnshaw.”
He believes that Batley will enjoy success, saying:“I am confident that through the astute coaching and leadership of John Kear we will more than hold our own on the pitch.”
