The Batley Bulldogs squad are being put through the vigours of pre-season training as they prepare for the new Championship season.
It is just three weeks until supporters will get the chance to see the Bulldogs’ new signings for the first time when they tackle Dewsbury Rams in the traditional Boxing Day Challenge.
The likes of Shaun Ainscough, James Brown, Brad Hey, Cain Southernwood and former Shaw Cross Sharks amateur Shaun Squires could all make their Batley debuts against the Rams, with Sean Hesketh and Keegan Hirst also set for a return in Bulldogs colours.
One-time Ram James Craven could also be set to feature against his former club having joined John Kear’s men from Keighley Cougars in the close season.
Away from the players, another group as hastily planning for Boxing Day and the Batley Xplosion dance team, pictured above, will make their debuts in front of a bumper festive crowd at Mount Pleasant.
Batley Xplosion was launched three weeks ago but has proved very successful with local youngsters eager to take up cheerleading.
Bulldogs community manager Jon Humpleby, said: “We are delighted with the number of young people who have joined the dance team.
“Olivia Scott is doing a great job as dance team leader and everyone is having great fun at the sessions. Cheerleading is a great way of getting healthy, making new friends, learning new skills and building confidence.”
The Xplosion dance team welcome new members and sessions run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
