Batley Bulldogs have swooped to sign utility back Niall Walker from Hunslet RLFC on a one year deal.
Walker joined Hunslet on a short term deal in 2017 following five years in Australia, representing Parramatta Eels and Balmain Tigers at junior level.
He was restricted to just one appearance for Hunslet, making his debut in a 24-22 defeat away to Oxford before suffering a season ending knee injury.
The former Stanningley junior agreed a one year deal to remain with the south Leeds club and made a further four appearances in 2018, scoring two tries.
Walker is the sixth signing Matt Diskin has made for the 2019 campaign and he will team up with Jack Owens (Hull FC), Toby Everett (Dewsbury), Iliess Macani (Sheffield) and Danny Yates (Rochdale), when the team return for pre-season training.
Batley have also signed centre Sam Wood on a season long loan from Huddersfield Giants.
Former Bulldogs coach John Kear masterminded Bradford Bulls’ return to the Championship last Sunday when they overcame Workington Town 27-8 in the League One play-off final.
Workington now face a trip to Swinton Lions this Sunday with the winners claiming the final place in next season’s Championship and the losers competing in League One in 2019.
