The Batley Sporting Charitable Trust has received a generous donation, which will help a community worker to run activity sessions with disabled children.

sen, in Mirfield, donated £100 to the official charity of Batley Bulldogs, which will allow them to run sessions with the Create Project, who meet at Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust in Mirfield.

The project meets every Wednesday in term time and supports young people with additional needs through a variety of positive activities.

The project has a history of work with the Bulldogs and community worker Jon Humpleby said: “We are delighted to be back working with the Create Project and the young people who attend as we have built up a great working relationship over the last year thanks to the support of Ravellos.”

Helen Ross, of Ravello Cafe and Delicatessen added: “We aim to support the local community as much as possible and it was a pleasure to be able to help Batley Bulldogs, especially as our donation will specifically benefit young people with disabilities.

“We hope that our donation will be the first of many, and other small businesses will also try to help this worthy cause.”

The Bulldogs have also confirmed the final total raised from their successful Pink Weekend was a magnificent £10,700.

All the money raised will go to breast cancer charities and the Bulldogs have now topped £20,000 in two years the Pink Weekend has run.

The club held a number of fundraising activities over the weekend of August 15 and 16, while a one-off pink playing strip was also auctioned off.

A club spokesman said: “This total is way beyond our expectations and is a tremendous achievement for our club and we would like to thank anyone who helped in any way.

“We are very proud and everyone involved should be very proud of themselves. This will help to save lives in the future thanks to the kindness and generosity of everyone.”
