Thornhill Trojans A moved up to third place in the Yorkshire Men’s League Alliance Division One following a 42-12 victory over Lock Lane Academy last Wednesday.

The Trojans were never really troubled and held the upper hand throughout.

Thornhill used a squad of 20 players, with Brad Lewellyn making his debut at full-back and the youngster made such an impact with his attacking runs, that he picked up the man-of-the-match award.

Thornhill signalled their intentions early on when Adam Johnson broke from his own half to score a long range try. Declan Tomlinson converted.

Minutes later Johnson leapt highest to collect a high kick to the corner and score an unconverted try.

When Lock Lane had Jacob Crossland sin-binned, Thornhill pressed on and good handling created and overlap for Josh Gearey to score in the corner.

Thornhill had Johnson sin-binned for punching but the yellow card didn’t knock the Trojans out of their stride.

A break from Declan Tomlinson made good ground and he managed to get the pass out for Adam Allerton to score. Tomlinson converted.

On the stroke of half-time Lock Lane squeezed over for an unconverted try through Jo Crossland .

Thornhill continued to dominate as the second half got underway. Jake Hickling made a brilliant break. The momentum was maintained and Nick Mitchell nipped over from close range. Tomlinson converted.

George Stott then sent Josh Clough sprinting clear for a try which Tomlinson converted.

Jacob Crossland pulled an unconverted try back for Lock Lane following a chip through.

A strong break from Johnson took Thornhill up to the other end of the field and Mitchell completed the move with a try which Tomlinson converted.

Crossland was then shown a red card for dissent for Lock Lane and space appeared in the home defence as Tomlinson made a surge for the try line and pushed away a would be defender to score.

A late try from Lock Lane’s Morgan Jones wrapped up the scoring as Thornhill registered an impressive away win.
