Sykes was originally due to meet Walsh on February 22 for the British and Commonwealth super featherweight titles but the fight was brought forward by a week and was scheduled for the Copper Box Arena at London’s Olympic Park.

Sykes fans had already begun making plans to descend on London to watch the Dewsbury star in the biggest fight of his career before it was announced the showdown had been postponed on Wednesday.

Sykes is mandatory challenger to the British title and it is hoped the fight can be re-scheduled, possibly for some time in April.
