Lee Miller & Viviane Sassen
The Hepworth Wakefield
The Hepworth Wakefield is throwing a party on Thursday, June 21 between 7pm and 10pm to celebrate the opening of their two new exhibitions and it is free to enter.
Lee Miller & Surrealism in Britain is the first exhibition to explore Miller’s involvement with surrealist circles in Britain in the 1930s.
Telling the story of this influential network of artists, it will present Miller’s photographs alongside the works of artists she knew, photographed and exhibited with, including Eileen Agar, Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, René Magritte and Henry Moore.
Viviane Sassen: Hot Mirror presents over sixty images from her notable photography series of the last ten years, as well as new photographs, collages and an immersive installation.
One of the most innovative photographers working today, Sassen cites surrealism as a vital early influence in her work.
There’ll be a street food menu in The Hepworth Café, a North Bar pop-up, music from DJ Andy Hickford and giveaways courtesy of Aesop.
These new exhibitions are open daily from Friday June 22 to Sunday October 7 from 10am to 5pm every day. They are free to enter.
