Festival to celebrate

THE best of Batley will be celebrated at Batley Festival next weekend.

The town will come alive as fun, music and dance fill the Market Place, the memorial gardens, the town hall and Batley Library and Art Gallery.

Organised by Batley volunteers and supported by Kirklees Council, the festival will feature a line-up of entertainers, shows, musicians, stalls and activities for the whole family, from Megan’s Rainbow Fun Time – a children’s story time – to poetry by Ahmad Lunat OBE and Tai Chi in the memorial gardens.

Also on the agenda is The Maniax Show – a fast moving comedy with tricks and gags-a-plenty – and Manasamitra’s new street show, Sizzle (pictured).

Batley Festival kicks off in the Market Place at 11am on September 29, hosted by compere, magician and musician, Mike Hancock. It finishes with a variety show at Batley Town Hall, tickets £5 from 01484 324501.
