New heritage trail booklet
Ten thousand copies of Dewsbury Heritage Walks are being handed out in council buildings, information centres, pubs and clubs after previous runs of 3,000 and 5,000 copies were snapped up.
The original booklet was a guide to buildings awarded blue plaques for their architectural or historical interest, but it has now been expanded to include more town centre sites and four new trails in Dewsbury’s suburbs.

He said: “The first book was so popular we had to keep getting more printed, then for this one the council asked us if we could enlarge it.
“We’ve done some extra research so it’ll appeal to more people and there’s more for them to see.”
The four new trails in the booklet are A Select Suburb, Way Out West, Barging About and Over the River. They cover Halifax Road, Westtown, Savile Town, Thornhill Lees and the canal basin.
