The murky world of the film noir private eye and the battle between a writer and an egotistical movie mogul collide in musical comedy City of Angels.

Clever use of a split stage at Dewsbury Artspace moved the action effortlessly between the technicolour world of the studio on the lower level and the black and white film itself on the upper level.

A plot packed with double-crossing, seduction and intrigued had the audience hooked throughout, and as usual the standard of performance was very high.

Dewsbury Arts Group favourites Hugh Raine and Richard Brook proved the perfect partnership as womanising writer Stein and determined private eye Stone.

Craig Kelly revelled in the role of vengeful detective Munoz, while Jo Townend was spot on as vixen Mallory .

Dan Henry, Jo Townend and Jo Slater shone too in fantastic musical numbers.
