Emergency Dewsbury clinics to open for those not registered with dentist

Ten Dentaid clinics, the first of which is on Thursday, December 10, will take place at Dewsbury Dental Centre for people with severe pain and no other access to treatment, but patients will have to phone the practice and undergo screening to assess their need before being offered an appointment.

Staff will prioritise those in greatest need and a limited number of appointments will be available.

The clinics will take place on two Thursday evenings a month between 6pm and 9pm and only those with a pre-booked appointment will be seen.

Dentaid has been a regular visitor to Dewsbury since 2015 and volunteers have helped thousands of people out of dental pain at mobile dental clinics held outside the town hall, schools and community centres. Coronavirus restrictions have hampered the charity’s work, preventing clinics taking place in its mobile dental unit, but Dentaid volunteer Nick O’Donovan has agreed to open his practice for the clinics.

Dentaid CEO Andy Evans said: “Thanks to Nick and his amazing team we will be able to help those whose lives are being most severely affected by dental problems.”
