Abstract art on show

THE abstract art of two artists is on display at Redbrick Mill.

Like Poles is an exhibition of work by Greg Townend and Moff Skellington which reflects the distinct differences in their techniques and imagery.

The display at Gallery North also celebrates the duo’s attitudes towards painting.

Townend creates his work based on his time as an industrial artist when he illustrated machinery, systems and technical graphics.

His paintings and drawings are imaginary versions of that equipment.

Skellington is both a painter and a musical poet, and will be using Like Poles to showcase a new series of small black and white canvasses based on his recorded works.

In a statement the artists said: “There is a certain objectivity in our work, a considered outward looking approach which we hope deflects attention away from the personality of the artist towards a wider world of common experience.”

Like Poles is now open, and will be on display until December 22.
