John Horwood, secretary of the town’s branch of the Royal British Legion, is appealing for the owner to come forward after he was handed it by people who found it when leaving the event at the War Memorial.

The ribbon of the medal has a purple stripe in the middle with green edges.
It is around 35mm in diameter and says ‘Northern Ireland’.

The Queen’s head is on the front, and it ‘For campain services’ is inscribed on the back.
Mr Horwood thinks it must have fallen off a veteran’s clothing when there was a rush to leave the park.

The medal looks similar to the ones shown the right.
