Assault accused in court

A MAN and two teenagers have appeared in court accused of assaulting two 16-year-old boys.

The alleged assault took place in Lees Hall Road, Thornhill Lees, on November 3, leaving one of the victims with a serious facial injury.

Dale Oakley, 21, and two 17-year-olds who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Leeds Crown Court yesterday morning.

All three are charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and racially aggravated assault. They have not yet pleaded to any of the charges.

Oakley was arrested last Thursday and the two 17-year-olds were arrested in Thornhill on Saturday.

An 18-year old man and a 16-year old boy were also arrested last week. They are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

Oakley, of Thorn Avenue, Thornhill, and one of the 17-year-olds appeared at Dewsbury Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and the second teenager appeared before magistrates on Monday.

All three will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on January 23 and a trial has been scheduled for the week commencing February 13.
