Athletic Lily is on track for race success
Lily Walsh, 11, was one of 100 children to take part in track and field events at the Boots Opticians Athletics Day in Sheffield on October 4. The event was run by charity Action for Blind People.
Lily, from Westborough, Dewsbury, is a member of Huddersfield Actionnaires.

Hide AdIt is one of the charity’s 23 multi-activity clubs for blind and partially sighted children, supporting them in enjoying full and active lives.
Lily said: “Last year I won the 60 metre race.
“It’s great to be back at the event again. I love the javelin, and all the running and relay events.
“Through Actionnaires I get to meet lots of other children and make new friends.”
Lesley Inganni, operations manager at Action for Blind People, said: “Lily and the other children were so excited about the event, as many don’t get to participate in sport at all outside of their local Actionnaires clubs.
“It was an opportunity to sample a range of sports for the first time, helping them understand that sight loss isn’t a barrier to fun.”
