Keen readers from Bruntcliffe School have read more than 66 million words between them.

Pupils in years seven to nine who were involved with the school’s accelerated reading programme had read 66,099,067 words and 4,083 books.

They were each recognised and awarded prizes by the English department.

Pupil Saskia Wood read the highest number of words, which was more than two million, and received a £40 Kindle voucher.

The other four millionaires, pictured, each won a £20 book token.
