Chicks are teacher’s pets
Children at Old Bank Junior, Infant and Nursery School cared for nine chicks after watching them hatch from their eggs as part of a project about growing.
Teacher Claire Scargill said: “We had the chicks for two weeks. The children watched three of them hatching and have made a little pen for them so they can come out of their brooding box.”

“One of the staff is going to keep them at her house for eggs so we can keep visiting them and watch them grow,” she said.
Meanwhile, a brother and sister shared success when their Easter eggs topped a school competition.
Rhianna and Devon Wild-Robertshaw, pictured, were two of the eight pupils whose designs won prizes in an Easter egg competition.
Rhianna impressed the judges with her Eggs Factor entry, while Devon won praise for his Eggy The Eagle.
