Communities raise a cuppa to beat cancer
But one pub has teamed up with regulars to host a whole day of activities in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.
Tomorrow the Alma Inn in Thornhill will host a coffee morning with tombola, raffle, face painting and stalls from 10.30am, a charity auction at 6pm and an open mic night from 8pm.

Hide AdLandlady Gaynor Dennis said: “Hannah Davis and her family have done events in previous years from home, but they wanted to make this on a really big event. We thought it was a brilliant idea.”
Items up for auction include a Liverpool FC tour, Yorkshire County Cricket tickets, a set of golf clubs and a jumper worn on Coronation Street by actress Kym Marsh.
Bretton Street Enterprise Centre in Savile Town is hosting a coffee morning, raffle and tombola today, 10am-noon. Prizes donated include chocolates, wines glasses, wine and toys.
Over at Upper Hopton, Mirfield Free Grammar students Ellie France and Bethany Wood have organised a coffee morning at the cricket club in memory of Ellie’s uncle who died from cancer two year ago.

Hide AdThe girls, who are 11, hope to raise £200 by selling a host of cakes and refreshments tomorrow, 10.30am-noon.
Ellie said: “We’ve organised for cake and cupcakes and will even have activities to keep young children entertained. We hope as many people as possible will come along.”
Coffee mornings will be held tomorrow at Lower Hopton Care Cottage in Chadwick Fold Lane, 10.30am-12.30pm, and St Peter’s Church, Earlsheaton, 10.30am-1pm.
