Batley and Spen MP leads message of condolences to murder victim stabbed in street

The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are continuing to investigate the fatal stabbing of Bradley Gledhill on Park Croft, Batley on Sunday .

Batley and Spen MP Tracy Brabin has given her support and condolences to his family.

Posting on her Facebook page she said: " I would like to send my deepest condolences to his friends and family and offer them my full support in what will be an incredibly difficult time for them.

"I have been in contact with the police who assure me they are doing all they can to investigate this and bring those responsible to justice. If anybody has information regarding last night, please contact West Yorkshire Police on 101.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the young man from Heckmondwike was murdered during fighting between a group of males in Batley on Sunday evening.

Police were called at about 10.28pm to reports of an altercation on Park Croft involving a group of people.

The victim, a 20-year-old Heckmondwike man, suffered a stab injury during the incident, after which other persons involved fled the scene.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital but later died.

A 19-year-old man Batley man was arrested on suspicion of murder this morning in connection with the incident and a 31-year-old man from Heckmondwike has been arrested on suspicion of affray.
