Cleckheaton man to appear in court on false imprisonment and threats to kill charges

A man has been charged following an incident in Cleckheaton on Monday.

Drew Trudgill, 30, of Turnsteads Drive, has been charged with two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of making threats to kill.

Police were called at around 4.20pm at May 11 to a house on Turnsteads Drive after concerns were raised for the welfare of two people inside the property.

He will appear before Leeds Magistrates Court this morning.

Armed officers attended and forced entry into the property.

West Yorkshire Police said a woman in her 30s who was inside the property was treated for a minor stab wound to her leg.

A man in his 40s received minor injuries.

DI Andrew Lockwood of Kirklees CID, said: ““Due to the nature of the reports we received, armed officers were deployed and specialist police tactics were used by officers to enter the property.

“We do currently believe this was an isolated, targeted offence and we are working to support the victims as our enquiries continue.”
