He was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital after the crash in Huddersfield Road, but died of his injuries.

Harbidge, 19, of Blacker Lane, Netherton, is said to have been driving a VW Golf carelessly before the crash.

But Kirklees Magistrates’ Court heard that his solicitor had not been provided a copy of a police reconstruction report, despite several requests.

The case was adjourned until Wednesday morning.

Harbidge was bailed until the next hearing.
