Dramatic wall fall

A FAMILY has had to move out of its home for at least a month after one of the building’s outer walls collapsed.

The house on the corner of Parker Road and Lees Hall Road was damaged by strong winds last Wednesday.

The outer part of the property’s cavity wall collapsed and the top of Parker Road was strewn with rubble.

A woman and her two children were in the house at the time, but escaped unharmed.

They and their neighbours from the house next door left their homes out of fears for their own safety.

The neighbours were able to return the next day, but the occupants of the damaged house have been staying with relatives ever since.

Firefighters from Cleckheaton fire station were called out to the incident at around 2pm.

Kirklees Council engineers also attended and closed off part of Parker Road so that the rubble could be cleared.
