An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after chip pan blaze in Batley.

Firefighters were called to Centenary Way in Carlinghow at 12.57pm today (Thursday).

When Dewsbury crews arrived they discovered the chip pan blaze and extinguished the fire.

A positive pressure ventilation was used.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said : "An elderly female suffered smoke inhalation. Oxygen therapy was administered by fire service personnel and the casualty was transferred to hospital by ambulance."
