GCSE results: Thornhill Community Academy celebrate
Leading the field were exam superstars Judith Webster and Amaarah Shaikh achieving an amazing 11 A* or A GCSE grades across all their subjects.
Excellent results were also seen in Modern Foreign Languages with 88 per cent achieving French and 85 per cent achieving Spanish at A*-C, both up significantly on previous years. Other top performing subjects included History, which saw 76 per cent A*-C and Design Technology, with pass rates in the high seventies. 78 per cent of students achieved at least one A*-C grade pass in Science, and half of students achieved two A*-C grade passes in Core and Additional Science. EBacc figures also sustained a good performance at 20 per cent.

Hide AdDespite fall back in headline figures, GCSE pass rates in core subjects remain strong. 59 per cent of students achieved five A*-C and 44 per cent including English and Maths. This appears consistent with warnings from the regulator that schools would experience significant volatility and potentially large swings in their performance under the new-style performance tables which allow only first entry results to be counted.
These results conclude a fantastic year for Thornhill Community Academy, ensuring all our students start their post 16 studies and careers with a wide variety of skills and experiences gained at the Academy to help them succeed in their futures.
