Ice cream awards for Charlotte’s

AN ice cream parlour has scooped two awards for making some cool cakes.

Audrey Wraithmell made an ice cream wedding cake which featured Whitley Parish Church where her daughter married in September. It won best in class at the National Ice Cream Competition run by the Ice Cream Alliance.

It’s the second year running that Audrey has won the prize and she took home the Dick Colleta Rose Bowl.

Audrey said: “Winning this trophy is a highlight for me. The rose bowl was donated more than 30 years ago by a Huddersfield company to commemorate businessman Dick Colleta, so there is a real local link for me.”

Audrey, who runs Chalotte’s ice cream parlour in Whitley with husband Geoffrey and daughter Charlotte, also took home the Silver Challenge Cup for a minature ice cream cake.

To ensure that the freshest of ingredients are used Geoffrey milks his herd of cows daily.

He said: “We pride ourselves on using the finest ingredients, Our cows graze on the lush green pastures in the meadows surrounding our ice cream parlour and that’s what makes our ice cream special.”
