Injured RL player Ryan receives funds boost

Money continues to pour in for Shaw Cross Sharks player Ryan Glynn, who was seriously injured in a game last month.

Dewsbury Rams players Austin Buchanan and Matthew Tebb, himself a former Shaw Cross amateur, attended a fundraising event at the Hammer and Stithy pub, Dewsbury Road, Ossett last Saturday, which raised over £450.

A signed Rams shirt and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats ball were among the items auctioned off for the fund.

Mr Buchanan is a former teammate of Mr Glynn, who had a spell at the Rams earlier in his career and he gave up his Saturday night to show his support.

Mr Glynn was allowed to leave hospital for the first time since he broke his neck playing for the Sharks, spending a few hours with his family at the weekend.

The Reporter will donate £100 to the fund thanks to last week’s charity Grand National bet given to us by Ladbrokes in Dewsbury.

Fundraising will continue later in the month, with a ‘Question of Sport’ evening with rugby league star Robbie Paul on Friday April 19.
